Getting from Raleigh Durham International Airport to Uncommon is a breeze. There is a shuttle service that takes students from the airport to campus called the Wolfline. Interested in a more private ride? There are always taxicabs at the airport that you can take, or you can opt to take a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft.
Usually, international students will exchange their currency at the airport. This is usually the easiest and quickest way to get US Dollars. However, you may also visit one of the many banks in town. There is a Wells Fargo Uncommonly close to your new apartment in Raleigh where you can go to exchange your currency.
While you’re in the US, you might want to consider getting a United States bank account. Dealing with international banks can sometimes be difficult, so getting a US bank account will make your life a little easier while you’re stateside. You’ll also probably want to consider getting a US cell phone plan while you’re studying abroad in Raleigh. International phone plans are often expensive and don’t necessarily get the best reception. Raleigh is known around the world for its amazing barbecue, and you’ll find a ton of restaurants lining Hillsborough Street with BBQ options, Italian food, Asian cuisine, and American classics. Feel like making dinner at home? There are plenty of grocery store options within reach including the Fertile Ground Co Op, Whole Foods, Target, and The Fresh Market.
You won’t have to leave Uncommon’s grounds to have more fun than you could possibly imagine. With the amenities like our sky lounge, pool with cabanas, grilling areas, hammock garden, basketball half court, and resident clubhouse, there’s always plenty to do. In case of an emergency in the United States, you can always dial 911. Generally, though, students of NC State use NC State University Student Health Services for their healthcare needs.
